Job Summary
The After Care Director oversees and supports the daily operations of the aftercare program, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students after school hours. This role is responsible for program planning, staff supervision, compliance with state and school guidelines, and fostering positive relationships with families and school personnel while supporting the academic and faith mission of the school.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the planning and coordination of the After Care program and its daily activities.
- Ensure implementation and compliance with all state, diocesan, and school guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the individual needs of children are met in a safe and supportive environment.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, families, school personnel, and volunteers.
- Maintain an environment that ensures the safety and well-being of children, staff, and families.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
- Conduct the program in alignment with the school’s academic goals, Catholic values, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to aftercare support staff and volunteers.
- Support the growth and ongoing development of the After Care program.
- Maintain accurate attendance, sign-in/sign-out records, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding expectations, student behavior, and program updates.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in childcare, camp, recreation, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage groups and mentor staff.
- Self-motivated with knowledge of group work and child development principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to use standard business software and typical office equipment.
