Position Summary: The Church of the Nativity and Nativity School Maintenance worker is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks associated with the care of parish facilities.
Classification: Non-exempt. Part-time position. 30 hours a week. Schedule to be arranged.
Reports to: Pastor
Essential Job Functions:
• Perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting, minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and heating and ventilation systems maintenance, laying floor tile.
• Multi-task, prioritize, problem solve, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Report on hours worked, projects completed, maintenance statuses and any inventory supply and equipment needs to supervisor.
• Effectively communicate with Clergy, Staff, Contractors, Vendors, Parishioners, and Visitors.
• Comply with all safety and health regulations.
• Respond to emergency calls for maintenance troubleshooting.
• Take out trash and recycling bins for pick up from the city weekly.
• Set up tables and chairs in facilities as requested, move items and equipment on an as needed basis.
• Running errands.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements/Position Qualifications:
• Must have experience in performing general maintenance duties, including electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems, and tile flooring.
• Hands-on knowledge of and experience operating a variety of tools, machinery, and power equipment used in performing essential functions.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
• Ability to withstand a variety of indoor & outdoor environmental conditions.
• This position requires standing, walking, using hands, using feet, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching above, climbing, balancing, sitting, talking, hearing, smelling.
• This position uses tools such as shovels, wheelbarrows, drills, saws, ladders, dolly, paintbrush, and rollers.
• Must be able to climb a ladder and is comfortable with heights.
• A driver’s license is required for running errands as needed.
• This position requires lifting more than 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass background screening, complete Virtus Training, and policy agreements, as required by the Diocese of Charleston.
