The Marriage Ministry Coordinator is a team role within the Adult Ministry office. This office
serves these targeted life stage groups: Men, Women, Married Couples, Young Adults 22+, and
Seniors 60+. The position oversees Marriage Ministry as well as Adult Confirmation. In
addition, this role works closely with the OCIA team.
Primary Work:
Marriage Preparation & Wedding Coordination
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all engaged couples and those seeking
marriage at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, including convalidations.
• Guide couples through the marriage/convalidation preparation process, ensuring
completion of all diocesan and parish requirements.
• Prepare, collect, and maintain complete and confidential marriage files for each couple
in accordance with canonical norms.
• Coordinate with clergy to confirm readiness for the sacrament and ensure accurate
scheduling.
• Coordinate with the Wedding Liturgist and Music Director to ensure proper planning
and execution of the wedding liturgy, including required meetings, liturgical selections,
and music guidelines.
• Communicate clearly with couples regarding expectations, timelines, and requirements.
• Coordinate with the OCIA team to identify and assist couples who need convalidation
and/or annulments.
Annulment Assistance
• Assist parishioners seeking annulments by explaining the process and required
documentation.
• Serve as a pastoral point of contact, coordinating with clergy and the diocesan tribunal
as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide compassionate accompaniment.
Adult Confirmation Coordination
• Accompany adults seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation, assisting them in
understanding requirements and readiness.
• Assist candidates in identifying and securing a qualified Confirmation Sponsor.
• Coordinate the adult Confirmation formation process, including schedules, meetings,
and materials.
• Track progress and ensure completion of all requirements prior to the celebration of the
sacrament.
Marriage Enrichment Fellowship Group Support
• Serve as staff liaison and support for the Marriage Enrichment Fellowship Group.
• Assist with scheduling, communication, and logistical coordination for meetings and
events.
• Support group leadership in promoting parish participation and fostering community
among married couples.
Record Keeping & Administration
• Maintain organized, confidential sacramental files and records in accordance with parish
and diocesan policies.
• Track deadlines and follow up with couples and candidates as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, and diocesan offices to ensure smooth ministry
operations.
Any additional duties as may be assigned by the Pastor from time to time.

Catechetical Documents.
• Knowledge of Marriage related canon law and Diocesan marriage preparation policies.
• Active in the Roman Catholic faith and commitment to function in a manner consistent
with the mission of the Roman Catholic Church
• Intuitive at identifying the root of a complex problem and creating a solution to the
cause rather than the visual symptoms
• Project or program management skills; able to prioritize complex and related tasks,
while being relational with others
• Exercise discernment and maturity, reflecting a Godly spirit; relates well with others
• Embrace a strong work ethic, working well with minimal direction
• Proficiency in Microsoft software products
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Theological Studies, Ministry, Religious Education or
equivalent experience is desired. A Master’s Degree in one of these areas is preferred.
• Experience in leading ministry programs.
• Understanding of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Working Environment
This position may require some flexible weekend or weekday evenings to accommodate the
availability of working with volunteers. Due to limited office space, we may also utilize flex
workspace – which may include a blend of working remotely and shared workspaces.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; and
talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The
employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to
10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
