Job Summary
The Extended Care Aide is responsible for supervising students in the extended care program before and/or after school. The aide assists with recreational and educational activities, maintains a safe and welcoming environment, and supports students' social and emotional development while following school policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise children during before- and after-school care.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Plan and assist with age-appropriate games, crafts, homework assistance, and recreational activities.
- Monitor student behavior and promote positive interactions.
- Maintain attendance records and communicate with parents during student pick-up.
- Assist students with snacks and ensure proper hygiene practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity area.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and program coordinators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in education or child development preferred.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise groups of children in a safe and positive manner.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to pass required background checks.
