Full Time Position. $25-$34/hour DOE
Role Description The Merced Area Assistant Director is a full-time, on-site role serving the Modesto–Merced area. This position supports the Area Director in overseeing local ministry programs, coordinating outreach initiatives, and ensuring alignment with Youth for Christ’s mission and values. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff and volunteers, building relationships with youth, and facilitating Christ-centered programs and events. The Assistant Director collaborates with churches, schools, and community partners, manages schedules and logistics, and assists with communication and reporting related to area activities. The role also contributes to planning, budgeting support, and fundraising efforts, while promoting a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment for all youth.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in youth work, mentoring, or ministry leadership within a community, church, school, or nonprofit setting.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, including scheduling, event coordination, and basic budgeting or program management.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers and staff, fostering teamwork and a collaborative culture.
- Commitment to Youth for Christ’s Christian mission and values, with the ability to model integrity, respect, and compassion in daily interactions.
- Comfort leading groups, facilitating discussions, and presenting in front of youth, parents, church leaders, and community partners.
- Experience cultivating partnerships with local churches, schools, and community organizations is preferred.
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, social work, or a related field is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in the Modesto–Merced area, including some evenings and weekends as ministry activities require.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel and outreach activities.
