Bishop O'Connell High School is seeking a Senior Communications Associate to serve as the lead content editor of the school's website, and writer. The Senior Communications Associate reports to the Director of Communications and partners closely with the Digital Media Associate on social and multimedia content collaborating across departments to ensure communications products reflect Bishop O'Connell's mission and Catholic identity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Website Management
• Serve as the day-to-day owner of the school website: page updates, navigation,
content organization, and overall accuracy across all sections.
• Write, edit, and publish news stories, features, event recaps, and time-sensitive updates directly to the site.
• Monitor site performance, broken links, and basic SEO best practices. Stay current with emerging website tools, industry best practices, and AI.
• Partner with the Director of Communications on website redesign or platform changes, and to keep web and social content aligned.
Writing and Editing
• Write, edit content for newsletters, executive messages, and internal announcements.
• Proofread and edit outgoing school communications for grammar, clarity, tone, and adherence to style guides before publication.
• Serve as a secondary editor on major publications, advertisements, and other collateral, supporting the Director of Communications on larger editorial projects.
Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of proven experience in a communications or public relations role, preferably within an educational or faith-based setting.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience managing website and social media accounts. Prior experience in photography and video editing preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Creative thinker with attention to detail and ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• An understanding of Catholic values and commitment to promoting the Catholic mission of the school.
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
Compensation
