The Payroll Specialist position is responsible for the payroll processing system for multiple parishes in the Diocese of Madison. This will include providing data input and other support as necessary on the processing of payroll in the different locations within the Diocese of Madison. This role ensures seamless payroll operations and provides exceptional support to employees regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.
Essential Job Functions:
- Process bi-weekly payroll using payroll software (ADP, QBO), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Verify data integrity and ensure compliance with legal and diocesan requirements.
- Maintain confidential payroll and HR information.
- Communicate effectively with parish payroll processors, addressing inquiries.
- Implement payroll conversions to ADP per merger schedules. Support payroll integrations or upgrades ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption
- Prepare and distribute payroll and benefits reports as needed
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment and inquiries.
- Verify and reconcile benefit billing statements and coordinate with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Provide administrative support to Parish Financial Services and Human Resources, including employee file maintenance and compliance documentation.

Required Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, human resources.
- 5+ years work experience in accounting, human resources, or payroll.
- Proficiency with payroll software, particularly ADP and QuickBooks Online.
- Experience with payroll conversions and/or mergers.
