Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered High School Science Teacher to join our science department. The successful candidate will teach a combination of Earth & Space Science, Anatomy and Forensics, creating engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote scientific literacy, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving.
Responsibilities
• Teach Earth & Space Science, Anatomy & Forensics courses using
engaging, standards-aligned instructional practices.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, laboratory investigations,
and hands-on activities that promote scientific inquiry and critical
thinking.
• Design and administer assessments that measure student
learning.
• Utilize educational technology, including SMART Boards and
digital instructional tools, to enhance student learning.
• Collaborate with science department colleagues to develop
curriculum and improve instructional practices.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development
opportunities, and other school activities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in science education or a closely related
science field required; Master's degree preferred.
• New York State Teaching Certification in Secondary Science (or
eligibility/enrollment in a certification program).
• Knowledge of New York State Science Learning Standards and
laboratory requirements.
• Strong understanding of Earth & Space Science, Human Anatomy
& Physiology, and Forensic Science.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and
organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and
families.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous high school teaching experience.
• Ability and willingness to advise student organizations, clubs, or
extracurricular activities.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and innovative
instructional practices.
