Position Overview Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
We are seeking a full-time
Director of Sacred Music to serve our liturgical life and evangelizing vision. Working closely with the Pastor and Parish Manager, you will lead and grow our sacred music program, build dynamic volunteer choirs, and inspire parishioners of all ages to encounter God through the beauty of the Church’s rich musical tradition.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, school liturgies, weddings, funerals, and other parish celebrations.
- Serve as principal organist/pianist and direct parish choirs and cantors.
- Recruit, mentor, and encourage volunteer musicians while fostering congregational participation in sung prayer.
- Collaborate with the pastor to plan music that reflects the liturgical life and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Help cultivate an appreciation for the Church's rich tradition of sacred music through education, formation, and special musical events.
- Oversee the music ministry budget, instruments, sound system, worship aids, and other administrative responsibilities.
- Support the parish school music program and work collaboratively with parish staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Bachelor's degree in Music (master's preferred).
- Strong organ, piano, choral directing, and vocal skills.
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and the Church's sacred music tradition.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative abilities.
Preferred
- Deep commitment to the Church’s mission of evangelization.
- Parish music ministry experience.
- Familiarity with Church documents on sacred music and liturgy.
- Working knowledge of Latin.
- Ability to recruit and inspire volunteers.
- Membership in professional music organizations is welcomed
