JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
Responsible for creating, designing, writing, and proofreading all print, digital, and video
content for our central hub website, social media, printed media, and verbal
announcements. This role will also partner with staff, the Knights of Columbus, and
Parish Life Commission to have an ongoing program of inclusive welcome and
fellowship that will create a spirit of relationships and community.
Essential Job Duties:
- Design, write, and proofread all print media (weekly bulletin, worship advertisements for local paper, flyers, reminders, promotional handouts.)
- Maintain parish website. Responsible for all design, writing, and proofreading of our parish and school websites.
- Design, write and schedule weekly Flocknote emails that accompany bulletin distribution.
- Maintain Parish database for diocesan census and parishioner registrations electronically and hardcopy. Create reports for the Pastor.
- Collaborate with the Evangelization team with promotional materials and Family of Faith registration for their events to create engaging and creative content.
- Collaborate with parish leaders with program calendaring and maintain the master parish calendar.
- Collaborate with the School Principal on school website content, weekly articles and posts of activities related to the school.
- Collaborate with the Parish Life, Knights of Columbus, and Fall Festival Teams with promotional materials for parish sponsored events. Works with ministries, teams, and committees to encourage updates, connect, and use social media
and websites for their events.
- Oversee Sacramental processes and record in sacramental books after Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriages, and Deaths.
- Program FOBs for visitors for parish buildings and maintain grounds security systems.
- Manage Mass intention software (integrating with website) and work with parishioners as needed.
- Manage Altar Flower Sponsorships for St. Mary & St. Joseph at St. Olaf.
- Point of contact with Pastor and coordination with funeral homes, communicating to necessary parties of events for funerals.
- Periodically attend Weekend Mass and Evening Programs within the parish to get a working knowledge of the people served by the parishes.
- Design and write social media posts across all platforms based on upcoming activities.
- Include photography at parish events, school events or events involving our priests to include in our printed or electronic formats.
- Write and collaborate with staff on weekend Mass announcements and distribution.
- Order special collection materials for all church locations within the parish.
- First point of contact in the greeting of visitors and answering the main phone line.
- Attend staff formation as scheduled.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in advertising, marketing, graphic design or related field or prior experience in field.
Required Competencies:
- Demonstrated understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church’s teaching, mission and values and abide by them.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently, including developing and maintaining effective recordkeeping systems.
- A strong understanding of the Catholic faith would be required to create relevant content relating to our organization and mission.
- Detail-oriented, eye-for-design, and tenaciously bring projects to completion.
- Proficiency with web design using eCatholic or similar tools.
- Proficiency with graphic design using Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar.
- Proficiency with social media applications including Instagram and Facebook.

Supervisory Responsibility:
- Administrative Assistant assistance could be enlisted for needs if scope of role is above and beyond the 36-40 hours.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Office environment
- Ability to attend outdoor services in all weather conditions.
Normal Work Days & Hours (36-40 hours per week):
- Mondays-Thursdays 7:30 AM to 4 PM; Fridays 8 AM to noon with flexibility. Some Evening/Saturday/Sunday partial workdays/hours may be required.
- Opportunity to cover office hours at other locations.
- Flexibility in this schedule encouraged allowing coverage of events in the parish.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to go between sites as needed.
