As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both your professional and personal life
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Collaborates with local Catholic high schools to facilitate the transition into university life through fellowship at the Newman Center.
Works with student officers (Islander Catholic & Viking Catholic) and interns to plan and facilitate activities to attract students to the Newman Center and foster fellowship at the Newman Center.
Acts as a liaison with Catholic students at TAMUCC & Del Mar College, especially those members of Islander Catholic and Viking Catholic.
In collaboration with the rector-chaplain, the Campus Minister coordinates with the Diocesan Director of Young Adult Ministry for events of mutual interest.
Organizes service trips integrated with Catholic Social Teachings, and facilitates guided readings on issues of social justice.
Participates, to the extent possible, in all activities of the student organizations both on campus and in the Newman Center.
Collaborates with the rector-chaplain, full Campus Ministry Team, and student leaders for the preparation of the Awakening Retreat.
Acts as a liaison to the university for student referrals for services such as mental health and student affairs.
Collaborates with rector-chaplain, full Campus Ministry Team, student officers, and interns to provide content for the Newman Center social media platforms and website.
Establishes and fosters strong working relationships with campus administrators, faculty, and staff.
Coordinate and lead set gatherings, including but not limited to

Coffee & Connections- student outreach programs
Fall & Spring Kickoff
Orientation and Welcome Week
Graduation Mass and Reception
Promote Newman Center by establishing key relationships and resources in the community, on campus, and in the local parishes
Assist the rector-chaplain and Ministry Team with fundraising efforts to support programs throughout the year.
In collaboration with the rector-chaplain and the Ministry Team, the Campus Minister will create a calendar of activities for campus ministry
Generate ideas and carry out campus ministry events and gatherings
Support student formation that encourages and trains them to be effective leaders in church and society, rooted in Gospel values and in service
Assist with faith and spiritual formation events, including but not limited to OCIA, pilgrimages, retreats, service projects, social gatherings
Attend (including preparation, set-up, and clean-up) regularly scheduled student weekly events
All other duties assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
Must maintain confidentiality
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry, Religious Studies, or a related field preferred
At least two years of ministry experience with a college or university campus ministry or young adult ministry
Know the basic teachings of the Catholic Church and live by them with an openness to learn more about the Faith
Food handler's license preferred
Valid Texas driver's license
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures throughout the entire employment period
