Director of Advancement

Our client, a well-established Catholic preparatory high school in Houston, is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Director of Advancement to lead the school's fundraising, donor engagement, and advancement strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with school leadership in shaping the future of the Advancement department while building meaningful relationships that will have a lasting impact on the school's mission.
We need a strategic fundraising leader with proven ability to cultivate major donors, strengthen annual giving, and develop innovative philanthropic initiatives. The ideal candidate is an exceptional relationship builder who enjoys engaging with alumni, parents, donors, volunteers, and community leaders while leading and developing a collaborative Advancement team. A commitment to supporting the school's Catholic mission is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the school's overall advancement and fundraising strategy, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, grants, capital campaigns, and special events
- Build and manage relationships with major donors, alumni, parents, volunteers, foundations, and community partners to strengthen philanthropic support
- Partner with the President, Board of Directors, and Foundation Board to develop long-term fundraising strategies and drive advancement priorities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Advancement team while overseeing the daily operations of the department
- Oversee donor stewardship, prospect management, fundraising reporting, and CRM data to support fundraising efforts
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop compelling donor communications and fundraising materials
- Direct fundraising events and community engagement initiatives that support annual giving goals
- Represent the school throughout the community as a passionate ambassador for its mission and values
Requirements:
- Commitment to embracing the Catholic mission and Dominican charism of the school
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of advancement or fundraising leadership experience, preferably within an independent school or other mission-driven organization
- Proven success securing major gifts and leading fundraising campaigns
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar donor CRM platform preferred
- Strong organizational, project management, communication, and storytelling skills
- Professional, collaborative leader with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to be an active member of the school and local community
- Completion of Safe Haven safe environment training (or willingness to obtain)
