Brief Job Description: The First Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards while integrating Catholic values throughout the school day.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
– Plan and deliver engaging lessons in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religion.
– Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
– Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom community.
– Integrate Catholic teachings and Gospel values into daily instruction and classroom life.
– Lead daily prayer and participate in school liturgies, religious celebrations, and faith-based activities.
– Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
– Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress with families.
– Collaborate with faculty, administration, and support staff to promote student success.
– Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
– Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and the parish community.
Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
– Valid New York State Childhood Education Certification (Grades 1–6) or eligibility for certification. (preferred)
– Strong knowledge of New York State Learning Standards.
– Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
– Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
– Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.

Salary: Starting at $30,000+ based upon experience/education
