POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of Confirmation, Youth and Young Adult Ministry
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non Exempt, Full Time (40 hours a week)

SCHEDULE: Available to work evenings and weekends
PAY RANGE: $27.00 to $29.00 per hour.
JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Youth Ministry and Confirmation works under the direction and guidance of the Pastor. The Coordinator oversees and participates in pastoral ministry, outreach, evangelization, catechetical and social activities for youth and young adults ages 13 to 30. The coordinator designs and implements programs for young people that not only prepare them to receive their respective sacraments, but also build a community of faith, assist them in discovering and growing in their Catholic faith, and help them to become involved Catholics in discipleship. The coordinator builds a strong Confirmation, Youth, and Young Adult Ministry.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Because all St. John Neumann Catholic Church employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Collaborates with the Pastor and Director of Faith Formation in the vision of Youth Ministry, Confirmation preparation, and Middle School at St. John Neumann.
- Plan, develop, and implement sacramental preparation for youth in Middle School and High School, including First Communion and Confirmation.
- Collaborate with the RCIA coordinator in planning and implementing a catechetical program for youth catechumenate who are 12-17 years old.
- Plan and execute weekly youth ministry nights for high school students (Summit).
- Plan and execute bi-weekly middle school ministry nights (Ascend).
- Develop and run programs for continued faith formation growth for high school students after Confirmation at least once per month (Upper Room).
- Plan, develop, and implement young adult ministry gatherings once per month.
- Oversee the registration process and payments for programs and events.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate all youth ministry adult volunteers and peer leaders.
- Work with the Safe Environment Coordinator to ensure all catechists, aides, chaperones, and adult volunteers are cleared to work/volunteer with minors.
- Provide safe environment classes for all enrolled youth at least once per year in all programs.
- Create opportunities to interact with the students and build relational ministry throughout the year.
- Encourage youth to participate in the life of the parish: Christian Service opportunities, Sunday 5 pm Mass (attends with them), and other parish events.
- Provides appropriate catechesis for parents or guardians of students participating in youth ministry or sacrament preparation.
- Oversees the record keeping for students in the Confirmation program: Sacramental records, sponsor qualification, Bishop’s letter, and Sacramental Registrar.
- Coordinates and plans the yearly Confirmation retreats.
- Collaborates with the Clergy for the Confirmation liturgy and the rehearsal of the Confirmation liturgy.
- Promotes and publicizes youth events through social media and technologies (i.e., Parish Website, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
- Creates an annual calendar for all youth and young adult programs or events and collaborates with relevant office staff to reserve spaces and share with other ministries.
- Prepares an annual budget for the Youth Ministry Program in collaboration with the Pastor and the Office Manager.
- Orders all materials and resources for youth and young adult programs.
- Records and submits monetary transactions related to youth and youth adult ministries, including deposits, credit card transactions, and check requests, promptly.
- Responsible for the good maintenance of the parish facilities used, including but not limited to audio-visual equipment, furnishings, rooms, office space etc.
- Works with Children’s Faith Formation to provide a smooth transition from Children’s Faith Formation to Middle School Ministry.
- Participates in staff meetings, staff days and staff retreats.
- Attends diocesan youth ministry meetings.
- Participates in the life of the parish and its spiritual and social activities.
- Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
- Faithfully represent the teachings of the Catholic Church with integrity in word and action
- Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies/Theology/Pastoral Studies or related field
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with young people
- Excellent oral, written and public speaking skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting and environment
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to design curricula and develop youth programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media sites

- Basic Certification
- Three or more years experience working with youth preferably in a parish setting
Work Conditions
- The position primarily involves work on parish premises and in an office setting, requiring frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, AV, telephones, printers, credit card terminals, postage machines, and filing systems.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support department programs, operational needs, or campus events.
- Must be available to adjust the work schedule as needed to meet organizational deadlines, operational demands, ministry activities or special projects.
- Regular interaction with students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a professional and faith-based environment.
- Some local travel may be required for meetings, trainings, or work‑related events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative and computer‑based tasks.
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement around the parish or office facilities to support programs and operational needs.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, such as materials, supplies, and event equipment.
- Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment, preparing materials, and managing paperwork.
- Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and visitors in person, via email, and by phone.
- Must be able to set up and dismantle chairs, tables, and other equipment required for meetings, programs, or campus activities as needed.
