Job Summary
The Aftercare Program Staff member is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students during the school's aftercare program. This part-time position supervises students after school, supports homework completion, facilitates engaging activities, and helps foster a positive atmosphere where children feel safe, respected, and valued. Working collaboratively with school staff and families, the Aftercare Program Staff member supports the mission and values of Catholic education while promoting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each student.
Job Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Care
- Supervise students throughout the aftercare program to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Maintain a structured, positive, and respectful environment that promotes appropriate student behavior.
- Ensure proper student check-in and dismissal procedures are followed.
- Monitor students during indoor and outdoor activities.
Student Support & Engagement
- Assist students with homework and encourage positive study habits.
- Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
- Encourage positive social interactions and help students develop problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and supported.
Program Operations
- Prepare and serve snacks in accordance with school health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate attendance and other required program records.
- Help keep the aftercare space clean, organized, and ready for daily activities.
- Assist with setup and cleanup of activities and materials.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and administrators regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents.
- Work collaboratively with fellow aftercare staff to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
- Report behavioral concerns, injuries, maintenance issues, or safety hazards promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreation setting preferred.
- Dependable, patient, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
