Job Summary
Cardinal Ritter College Prep, a St. Louis Archdiocesan coeducational college preparatory high school serving grades 9–12, is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to support the school's girls basketball program. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes athletically, academically, spiritually, and socially while helping to build a competitive and successful program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a commitment to student development, and support for the mission and values of Cardinal Ritter College Prep and the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Girls Basketball Coach with the planning, organization, and supervision of the girls basketball program.
- Support the development and implementation of practice plans, skill development activities, and game preparation.
- Provide instruction in basketball fundamentals, team strategy, conditioning, and sportsmanship.
- Assist with supervising student-athletes during practices, games, team travel, and other program-related activities.
- Encourage academic success, accountability, leadership, and personal growth among student-athletes.
- Help monitor student-athlete eligibility and academic progress.
- Assist with organizing equipment, uniforms, and other program resources.
- Support game-day operations, scouting, and other administrative duties as assigned.
- Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, discipline, and character development.
- Serve as a positive role model and representative of Cardinal Ritter College Prep.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, faculty, and administration.
- Ensure compliance with all Archdiocesan, school, conference, and MSHSAA policies and regulations.
- Support the mission, philosophy, and expectations of Cardinal Ritter College Prep.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, Principal, or President.
Job Qualifications
- Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, player development, conditioning, and game strategy.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes in a positive and supportive environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, faculty, staff, parents, and administration.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church and Catholic education.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and online communication tools preferred.
- Ability to meet all Archdiocesan and school employment requirements, including background checks and Safe Environment compliance.
