Director of Florida Missions
Full-time | Southwest Florida
Our Mission
Advance the Faith prepares people to live lives of faith and purpose through Christ-centered mentoring, discipleship, and life development. We believe lasting transformation happens through authentic relationships, biblical discipleship, practical life development, and faithful mentors who invest in others over time.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to help shape and strengthen a growing ministry. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about serving foster youth, enjoys developing people, and believes that consistent relationships have the power to change lives. The Director provides day-to-day leadership for our Florida ministry by coordinating programs, developing volunteers and coaches, supporting staff, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring our ministry is carried out with excellence.
Working alongside the Leadership Team, the Director helps create opportunities for vulnerable youth to experience trusted relationships, caring mentors, practical life development, and biblical discipleship. This role helps influence the trajectory of young lives while advancing the mission of Advance the Faith throughout Florida.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is measured by the quality, consistency, and impact of Advance the Faith's Florida ministry. Programs are planned well, volunteers know what is expected of them, coaches are equipped and supported, partner organizations trust us, and youth experience meaningful relationships that encourage spiritual, personal, and practical growth.
The Director is expected to recognize opportunities for improvement, communicate challenges early, recommend practical solutions, and carry approved plans through to completion. While this position focuses on leadership, success also includes a willingness to step into program responsibilities whenever necessary to ensure ministry continues without interruption.
Your Leadership Responsibilities
The Director of Florida Missions provides leadership for Advance the Faith's Florida ministry by planning, coordinating, and evaluating youth development initiatives across multiple locations. This position equips, and stewards volunteers, coaches, and assigned staff while fostering strong relationships with foster homes, churches, donors, community partners, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include assessing youth needs, monitoring program effectiveness and participation, strengthening community engagement, communicating ministry outcomes to organizational leadership, and providing oversight of assigned ministry areas to ensure they are well-coordinated, effectively supported, and aligned with the organization's mission.
Although this position is primarily responsible for leading people and overseeing programs, it also requires a servant's heart. The Director is expected to participate directly in ministry activities and provide hands-on support whenever staffing shortages, volunteer limitations, or unexpected circumstances require it.
Who Will Thrive in This Role
The successful candidate is a mature Christian leader who enjoys serving others while developing people to serve alongside them. This person communicates well, builds trust naturally with teenagers and adults, follows through on commitments, remains organized, and demonstrates sound judgment when making decisions. They are comfortable leading volunteers, working collaboratively with organizational leadership, and representing Advance Faith in the community.
The Director of Florida Missions is entrusted with more than managing programs. This position helps create an environment where youth are known, volunteers are equipped, partnerships are strengthened, and the mission of Advance the Faith continues to grow. We are seeking someone who sees leadership as faithful stewardship, values relationships as much as results, and desires to invest in a ministry that is making an eternal difference.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in ministry leadership, youth development, foster care, education, counseling, nonprofit leadership, or related fields is strongly preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, and proficiency with technology are required.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in Southwest Florida and will require travel. Saturday availability is required and some evenings to support programs and events.
