St. Patrick Catholic School provides a beautiful education, teaching the “whole child” through an outstanding academic program, spiritual formation, athletics, fine arts, and extracurricular activities. We are a family-oriented community and strive to know, love, and serve God in everything we do.
The After School Care Worker position is part-time and is responsible for the supervision of students in the program. This position will supervise all activities that take place as part of the program and ensure the safety of each child attending the school’s extended care program.
Ministerial Character:

In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Continuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and the Diocese of Corpus Christi
Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others
Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service of the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information
Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization
As needed, differentiate lessons and activities so they are appropriate for students of various ages and with various abilities, and participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events
Prepare and gather materials and supplies prior to programs daily
Assist and supervise children during all activities following child care guidelines in a pro-active manner, making the safety and care of children primary focus
Assist children with meal/snack time
Follow appropriate cleaning and sanitizing procedures to clean-up site when children depart; inspect and return supplies to appropriate place
Ensure that site appearance, cleanliness and safe environment are appropriately maintained
Assist in enrollment, recording and submitting daily attendance records, and any other required documents assigned by site coordinator
Build a positive relationship with each after-school participant and foster positive connections between participants
Actively engage with children at all times with the goal of fostering the positive development of each child and the group
Communicate appropriate information to parents and interact professionally and appropriately with children, parents, school staff, community members and partners
Effectively manage assigned group; maintain and enforce progressive discipline policy; and report observations and incidents to site coordinator or school principal
Performs other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
Ability to maintain composure under duress
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Education
High Diploma with demonstrated relevant equivalent experience in working with school-age children and/or youth development
Must be at least 21 years of age
License and Credentials
Reliable transportation
Valid Texas driver license
Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Understand and apply basic child and adolescent development principles
Communicate and develop positive relationships with youth
Adapt, facilitate, and evaluate age-appropriate activities with and for the group
Involve and empower youth
Identify potential risk factors (in a program environment) and take measures to reduce risk
Care for and work with families and community
Work as part of a team and shows professionalism
Demonstrate the attributes and qualities of a positive role model
Interact with and relate to youth in ways that support asset building
Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team
Must have good written and verbal skills
Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
