The Campus Ministry to the College of Charleston is dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ within the Catholic Church to encourage the growth of Faith, Hope, and Love among the Students of the College of Charleston, to strive to assist in the reversion of Catholics who have fallen away, and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who may not have heard it yet. Headquartered at the Drexel House in the Heart of Historic Downtown Charleston, worshipping at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church (the oldest Catholic Church in the Carolinas and Georgia), the Campus Ministry to the College of Charleston is a vibrant and growing ministry comprised of eager and devoted students, a joyful and dedicated Campus Minister, and a deeply engaged Chaplain.

Position Overview
The Campus Minister for Mission Advancement & Women’s Ministry serves as a key leader in the Catholic Campus Ministry at the College of Charleston, responsible for cultivating a vibrant culture of evangelization, hospitality, leadership, and community among students. Under the supervision of the Chaplain and in collaboration with the Campus Minister for Faith Formation and Men’s Ministry, this position provides strategic leadership for major ministry events, student engagement, leadership development, and outreach initiatives that foster a thriving Catholic presence on campus.
This position oversees the ministry’s larger vision of student life by coordinating programming, mentoring student leaders, developing the women’s community, and creating opportunities for students to encounter Christ through authentic relationships, service, and fellowship.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Life & Student Engagement
- Develop and implement a comprehensive calendar of campus ministry events, including socials, service opportunities, retreats, mission trips, and more.
- Foster a welcoming and vibrant Catholic community that encourages students to grow in faith, friendship, and service.
- Build meaningful relationships with students through regular presence on campus and participation in student life.
- Student Leadership Development
- Mentor and form student leaders to serve in various campus ministry leadership roles.
- Coordinate leadership training and ongoing formation opportunities in collaboration with the Chaplain and Campus Minister for Faith Formation.
- Empower students to take ownership of ministry initiatives while fostering servant leadership rooted in the Gospel.
- Women’s Ministry & Mentorship
- Lead and develop the women’s ministry community by creating opportunities for prayer, discipleship, fellowship, and authentic Christian community.
- Mentor female student leaders and assist them in growing as missionary disciples.
- Collaborate with the Campus Minister for Faith Formation to ensure women’s formation opportunities complement the ministry’s broader catechetical mission.
- Evangelization, Outreach & Campus Presence
- Maintain a consistent and visible presence on campus through regular tabling, attendance at campus events, and intentional engagement with students to foster relationships and invite them into the life of the ministry.
- Develop outreach initiatives to engage students seeking to learn more about the Church.
- Foster relationships with student organizations, university departments, alumni, and local parishes and donors.
- Ministry Operations & Communications
- Collaborate closely with the Chaplain and Campus Minister for Faith Formation to ensure a unified vision and mission for campus ministry.
- Coordinate communications, including social media, newsletters, event promotion, and digital engagement with students, families, donors, and faculty.
- Assist in fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and stewardship initiatives that support the growth of the ministry
- Oversee ministry logistics and administrative planning for major events and trips within the ministry calendar
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Theology or closely related field from a reputable Catholic institution.
- Experience: Previous ministry experience in a college, parish, or diocesan setting
- Doctrinal Fidelity: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep understanding of Church teaching.
- Leadership Skills: Experience in mentoring students, organizing events, and leading small groups.
- Strong Communication: Ability to teach, engage, and inspire young adults in their faith journey.
Preferred Skills
- Background in campus ministry or young adult evangelization.
- Experience in public speaking, catechesis, and theological instruction.
- Ability to collaborate with clergy, lay leaders, and student groups.
- Familiarity with diocesan policies and safe environment protocols.
Working Conditions
- Requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends for student activities.
- Office located on campus with occasional travel for retreats and training.
- Reports directly to the Chaplain and collaborates closely with the Campus Minister for Faith Formation.
