Brief Job Description: The Grade 3 Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and academically engaging classroom environment while maintaining continuity of instruction during the regular classroom teacher’s absence. The teacher supports the mission and values of the Catholic school by integrating faith into daily instruction and modeling Christian values through words and actions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in all core subject areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
• Follow the established curriculum, lesson plans, and classroom procedures while making appropriate instructional adjustments to meet student needs.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment that supports student learning and development.
• Incorporate Catholic teachings, prayer, and Gospel values into daily classroom activities and interactions.
• Assess student progress through classwork, observations, quizzes, and assignments, maintaining accurate records as required.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Establish and maintain effective classroom management consistent with school policies.
• Communicate professionally with parents, administration, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student success.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as directed by the principal.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or assistant principal.
Qualifications: Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
• Valid state teaching certification or eligibility to teach at the elementary level preferred.
• Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably in Grade 3.
• Knowledge of elementary instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment practices.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and families.
• Commitment to supporting the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.

Salary: $19/hour for 7 hours per day
