Essential Functions of the Youth and Young Adult Coordinator
The Youth and Young Adult Coordinator serves to empower young people to be disciples of Jesus Christ in our world, draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the local, Diocesan, and Universal Church and use technology including social media to promote the youth and young adult programs.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for update and maintenance for youth and young adult pages on parish website
• Develop and manage strategy for parish social media, online parish event calendar, and other communication channels for youth and young adult programs
• Establish the calendar and curriculum youth and young adult programs
• Recruit and provide continuous training to volunteers to execute the vision of the programs
• Ensure Safe Environment guidelines are followed with youth and young adult volunteers
• Track attendance
• Communicate with teens and parents via safe environment guidelines
• Suggest resource material (videos, books, games, prayers service, etc.) to volunteer leaders
• Communicates and assists the parishioners via email, phone, and in-person
• Ensure on-going faith opportunities for youth and young adults
• Create and organize activities for youth and young adults to experience and celebrate God in their lives
• Develop, train and nurture youth and young adult leaders
• Ensure direct ministerial outreach to parish youth and young adults
• Opening and closing the session as well as close and lock up the parish hall
• Organizing the activities of the night
• Planning and coordinating meals with the kitchen assistants
• Other duties as assigned by the pastor
Job Requirement
• Active in the Roman Catholic faith and commitment to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Church
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must have the ability to work and communicate with youth and adults
• Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Proficient with technology including social media
• Flexibility in handling a variety of projects
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Flexibility in adapting to unexpected situations
• Knowledge of Diocesan and national expectations and trends in youth and young adult faith formation
Education and Experience
• Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in youth Ministry
• Experience in working, coordinating, and directing Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Faith Formation programs or a related educational certificate.
• Experience in the use of social media platforms.
