PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Saint Mary’s High School provides an inclusive Catholic learning environment where students are supported academically, spiritually, and personally. The Learning Resource Center provides a structured setting for students who need approved testing accommodations, academic support, quiet study space, and accountability. The Learning Resource Center Proctor supports this work by supervising students, organizing testing procedures, helping implement approved accommodations, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring that the space remains focused, respectful, and orderly. This position works under the direction of the Director of Student Services and assists faculty, students, and families by helping students access support responsibly and successfully.
The Learning Resource Center Proctor supports the Catholic mission of Saint Mary’s High School by promoting the dignity, respect, accountability, and care for every student. The proctor models patience, professionalism, and compassion while helping students follow Learning Resource Center procedures, use accommodations appropriately, and remain engaged in their academic responsibilities.
This position requires clear communication by phone, email, and in person; strong attention to detail; sound judgment; and the ability to manage daily responsibilities in a timely and professional manner. Flexibility, organization, confidentiality, and initiative are essential to supporting Learning Resource Center operations. This position reports to the Director of Student Services.

Specific Job Requirements/Tasks
Supports the academic needs of students and the established expectations of Saint Mary’s High School:
- Supervises students assigned to the Learning Resource Center for testing, study support, academic intervention, or approved accommodations
- Assists with organizing testing materials, student schedules, seating, timing, and approved testing accommodations
- Provides a structured, quiet, and respectful environment that supports student focus and accountability.
- Monitors students in the appropriate use of learning materials, technology, and testing resources
- Uses relevant technology and school systems to help document attendance, testing needs, assignments, and student support information
Supports Student Progress And Accountability Effectively
- Supervises students in the Learning Resource Center and supports their assigned academic responsibilities
- Communicates with the Director of Student Services, teachers, counselors, and other staff regarding student needs, testing logistics, and academic support
- Responds professionally to student needs and refers questions regarding placement or parent concerns to the Director of Student Services.
- Helps explain Learning Resource Center procedures, expectations, and available supports to students, faculty, and families when appropriate
- Monitors student attendance, work completion, testing progress, and use of accommodations within the Learning Resource Center
- Maintains accurate, organized, and confidential records related to student testing, accommodations, and support services
- Assists with the consistent implementation of school policies related to student support, testing, academic integrity, and accommodations
- Keeps informed of school procedures and expectations related to accommodations, confidentiality, and student support
- Assists with preparing materials, schedules, and information for faculty and staff related to Learning Resource Center services
- Prepares basic documentation, notes, and reports as requested by the Director of Student Services
- Helps organize daily Learning Resource Center procedures, including student check-in, test distribution and collection, return of completed assessments, and supervision of quiet work areas
- Establishes and communicates clear expectations for student behavior, academic focus, testing procedures, and use of the Learning Resource Center
- Prepares the Learning Resource Center space for testing, quiet study, academic support, and student services
- Manages student behavior by establishing, reinforcing, and following school rules and Learning Resource Center procedures
- Maintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Saint Mary’s High School
- Applies appropriate redirection and reports concerns to the Director of Student Services or school administration when necessary
- Provides appropriate student encouragement, academic accountability, and support while maintaining professional boundaries
- Participates in school activities, meetings, or support duties as requested
Establishes Positive School-community Relationships
- Maintains cooperative relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the school community. Promotes respectful and positive school relationships.
- Maintains awareness of his/her role as a Catholic school employee and its impact on students and the school community.
- Supports communication with parents and guardians as directed by the Director of Student Services.
- Cooperates with and helps promote academic support services, student success initiatives, and co-curricular programs within the school.
- Attends and actively participates in school faculty meetings, trainings, and in-services when requested.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required by the administration.
Continues professional development to remain current with religious and academic certifications:
- Keeps informed of current practices related to student support, testing accommodations, academic intervention, and confidentiality.
- Participates in appropriate professional development activities, school trainings, and diocesan-sponsored in-services when applicable.
- Willingly seeks to improve support practices within the Learning Resource Center and the broader school community.
- Attends and actively participates in school meetings and in-services. Supports the process of continuous school improvement.
- Maintains personal professional development records as required.

- Must possess a positive attitude toward inclusion and believe that every student is worthy of a meaningful and high-quality Catholic education.
- Must have an understanding of diverse learning needs and how accommodations support student access, focus, and academic success.
- Must be able to support the implementation of approved accommodations according to student plans and school procedures.
- Must possess skills to supervise and support students with a variety of learning needs, including but not limited to ADHD, dyslexia, executive functioning challenges, anxiety, autism, speech and language needs, and other academic or emotional support needs.
- Must demonstrate personal self-discipline and be adaptable and flexible in routine and unexpected situations.
- Must use good judgment in daily interactions with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Must use verbal and written language correctly and professionally.
- Must demonstrate an appropriate sense of humor and a calm, respectful approach with students.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of appropriate student support practices, classroom management, and adolescent development.
- Must always maintain appropriate grooming and dress as stated in the faculty and staff handbook.

EVALUATION
The performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures developed by the Diocese of Phoenix and Saint Mary’s High School under the direction of the Principal and Director of Student Services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten-month employee, full-time. The Executive Committee under the guidance of the Diocese of Phoenix establishes base salaries and stipends. A schedule of mandatory days and extra responsibilities is provided prior to the start of the new school year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Preference given to a practicing Catholic, but faithful persons of other faiths are welcome.
- Must be willing to make a public Profession of Faith if Catholic; if non-Catholic, willing to support Catholic teachings and philosophy.
- Experience working with high school students, students with learning needs, or students receiving academic accommodations is preferred.
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, special education, psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Successful completion of Safe Environment Training, the Code of Conduct, and an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
