GENERAL SUMMARY
The Business Manager for the Church of Incarnation (Irving, TX) is a leadership role that supports the chaplain in fulfilling administrative and operational responsibilities.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
General Operations Management:
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication among the community, school leadership, various groups, and external stakeholders, as appropriate
- Attend and present information at pastoral and school staff meetings, committee meetings, and Finance Council meetings
- Attend diocesan administrative meetings representing the chaplain, school, and chaplain; distribute and disseminate relevant information to personnel as appropriate
- Consult with and advise the chaplain on business and administrative matters
- Oversee the management of records
- Provide input into stewardship, development, and fundraising initiatives
- Participate in strategic planning and execution of strategic goals and objectives
- Maintain familiarity with all applicable policies and procedures
- Coordinate and oversee facilities management of buildings
- Coordinate purchasing of supplies
Finance and Accounting:
- Maintain the accuracy of all financial files and records and establish responsible cash flow management practices
- Facilitate the annual external Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) engagement or audit and implement recommended improvements
- Prepare, administer, and review the budget process in collaboration with finance leadership, subject to review and/or approval by the chaplain
- Maximize cash management resources
- Oversee and review funds
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Ensure financial accountability and that stewardship policies and procedures are implemented and maintained
Other Duties:
- Serve as a resource and support team member for all activities and events
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the chaplain
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Business operations experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, internet applications, and QuickBooks
- Strong record-keeping and facilitation skills
- Collaborative work style that fosters teamwork and organizational effectiveness
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team with energy, optimism, and persistence
- Professional demeanor and presentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong prioritization skills and flexibility
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and adjust to an unpredictable schedule when necessary
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 3–5 years of relevant business experience; nonprofit experience preferred
Special Requirements:
- Practicing Catholic with knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, required.
- Background Check: This position requires a criminal background check and credit check.
- English proficiency required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
