Position Summary
The Third Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a structured, engaging, and faith-centered
classroom environment. The ideal teacher collaborates closely with colleagues and families to
ensure student success and uphold the expectations of St. Ann Catholic School and the
Diocese.
Essential Responsibilities
Faith Formation & Sacramental Preparation
● Teach Religion in alignment with diocesan curriculum standards
● Integrate Catholic teachings, virtues, and prayer into daily instruction
● Lead students in daily prayer and participate in weekly Mass, holy days, and prayer
services
● Model Christian values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues
Instructional Responsibilities
● Provide high-quality instruction in:
○ Mathematics
○ Reading (grounded in phonics and the Science of Reading)
○ Writing
○ Science
○ Social Studies
● Implement evidence-based literacy practices, including systematic phonics instruction
● Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
● Maintain clear lesson plans aligned with diocesan and state standards
● Foster student responsibility, independence, and a love of learning
Assessment & Academic Accountability
● Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
● Maintain timely and accurate grading in accordance with school policies
● Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide targeted support
● Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, concerns, and
achievements
● Prepare report cards and participate in parent-teacher conferences
Classroom Environment & Student Expectations
● Establish and maintain a structured classroom aligned with school-wide expectations
● Ensure students are prepared, engaged, and meeting academic and behavioral
standards
● Support school policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and student responsibility
● Promote respect, accountability, and kindness within the classroom community
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
● Collaborate with grade-level teachers, support staff, and administration
● Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and in-service days
● Serve actively on school committees and contribute to school improvement efforts
● Support school initiatives, enrollment efforts, and community-building activities
● Maintain professional communication with families and staff
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
● Valid state teaching license
● Practicing Catholic preferred; all candidates must support Catholic teachings and the
mission of the school
● Knowledge and experience with phonics instruction and the Science of Reading
● Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
● Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a faith-filled school culture
