Saint John the Baptist Catholic School is seeking a full-time elementary age classroom teaching assistant.
Qualifications:
o Experience and/or education/training in elementary education or child and youth care preferred
o Minimum of a high school diploma
o Ability to develop positive constructive relationships with students, staff, parents and public in a professional manner
o Ability to adapt to a variety of assignments within the classroom and school
Primary Function:
o Support the mission of Saint John School
o Prepare educational materials carefully and accurately
o Carry out instructional lessons or classroom activities planned by the teacher for individual students or groups of students
o Assist students in special classrooms, on the playground, in the cafeteria, on field trips and other areas as assigned
o Assist teacher with classroom preparation and maintenance

o Perform other duties related to the job summary as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o Ability to work independently with moderate supervision
o Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, staff and parents
o General office skills, including basic computer skills, filing, and copying
o Must be motivated and dependable
o Be professional in attitude, dress and demeanor
o Adapt to unforeseen situations in the classroom
